sorry you feel the title is click-bait. I still think that is the main message of the article.

Whenever a developer wants to write ‘ISO 8601’ they should stop, think, and in most cases write something different. They should stop using it.

Similarly I could say that devs should not use SGML, they should use XML. The fact that XML is based on SGML is something they should not care about.
